WHO ARE WE?
Holy Trinity Anglican Church is a parish of the Anglican Province of
America (APA), an independent jurisdiction representing traditional,
orthodox Anglicanism across the United States.  We are a part of the
Holy Catholic Church of the West, tracing our doctrine, worship, and
ministry to the ancient Church that Jesus Christ founded on His
Apostles.  We are part of the worldwide Continuing Anglican
Movement, which is committed to preserving the authentic evangelical
Gospel always upheld by Anglican Christianity.  Holy Trinity has been
serving the Sarasota-Bradenton area in this capacity for over thirty
years, albeit under different auspices, and we will continue to preach,
teach, disciple, and administer the seven Catholic Sacraments that
further the Kingdom of God in our communiy.
WHAT’S OUR STORY?
77 million Christians worldwide profess the Anglican Faith, yet it’s amazing how few people
know about us and our story!  The story of Anglicanism goes all the way back to the third
century when Christian missionaries first began the conversion of Great Britain.  Through Papal
administration in the Middle Ages and and the Reformation in the 16th century, we have
remained true to the faith of our ancient fathers, spreading Anglican Christianity as far as Africa
and India where it is still prevelant today.  Here in the United States, Anglicanism has tradtionally
been centered in The Episcoapl Church (TEC).  However, recent decades of theological,
ministerial, and moral choices that we believe are not consistent with Holy Scripture and
Catholic Tradition have compelled us to continue our traditional Faith apart from the mainline
church.  So, here at Holy Trinity, we are still telling the story of how God saves sinners to be
remade in the image of Jesus Christ, even if it seems less fashionable.  Unlike TEC, we do not
believe that Christianity goes foward by conforming to the spirit of the age.  Religion does not
have to shift and morph with each new fad or change in the wind of culture.  Instead, our story
is to preserve a spiritual heritage for all in future generations whom God will call to salvation
in Christ.  Make no mistake, it isn’t always easy!  But telling a story means learning from the
past, yet not dwelling in it; preparing for the future, yet not getting ahead of ourselves.
This is why in our worship, we still use 1928 edition of the Book of Common Prayer (BCP).  We
believe that contains the best prayers and affirmations of faith most consistent with the earliest
centuries of Christianity, as well as the format first published in 1549.  Through the liturgy,
prayers, and sacramental administrations of the BCP, we feel most certain that Traditional
Anglicanism can move foward in a manner that best glorifies God and edifies Christians to grow
in their roles as members of the Body of Christ.  In the end, these are the two essentials of our
Anglican story!  When you attend our church, you will find we are most committed to:
Worship -- offering prayer, thanks, and a sacrifice of praise to God in a
way that is faithful to the Bible and the time-honored customs that
connect us both to our Christian forebearers and the Saints and Angels
in heaven.
Vocation -- maturing into the calling that God has for us, both as
parishes and as individuals to defeat sin and realize our Christian
purpose through the development of spiritual gifts and maturation in
holiness befitting sainthood.
That’s our story and we’re sticking to it!  We hope that you will join us to
make your story part of our own!  Here at Holy Trinity we are a family
and we welcome you to be treated as one of our own.  Even if you
don’t know much about Anglicanism or Christianity in general, you will
find in us a people ready to help you, no matter what your life
circumstances. After all, we are all members of one another.  God has
called us to build one another up by sharing our stories and gifts for the
perfection of the whole Church, until we reach “the measure of the
stature of the fulness of Christ” (Eph. 4:13).
